After a fine breakfast aboard we disembarked about 9:30, retrieved our luggage from the pier and boarded the bus into the city, with a bunch of other people, to the Scandic Palace Hotel. By the way, its another bright sunny day. In fact, since we further south now, it will become downright warm by afternoon!
We checked in at the hotel but it was early, so the rooms weren't ready yet. So off we went, in search of a Hop-On-Hop Off bus where we could find the canal cruise we didn't get do in Amsterdam. Seems like we walked forever, all around the famous Tivoli amusement park and gardens, until we found the bus stop.
Like Amsterdam, Copenhagen is a bicycle town so its hazardous to be a pedestrian! At least there seems to be a wider use of helmets here. We notice riders using hand signals and being considerate to other bikers. Imagine how many cars and motorbikes are NOT on the roads!
The canal cruise lasted about 1 1/4 hours and was great! Our tour guide spoke English, Danish and German. We saw lots of highlights and some very interesting architecture. Danish modern. Saw the famous "Little Mermaid"....a joke!
After baking in the hot sun on our boat ride, we went back to the hotel around 4:00. After freshening up, and not finding a table Hardrock Cafe, we ventured down an alleyway to a pizza place called Buka where we enjoyed a delicious Marguerita Pizza out on the sidewalk.
Unlike Amsterdam or Bergen (or Norway in general) Copenhagen feels like a foreign country.
We have to meet our taxi at 8:30 in the morning for a ride to the airport. We'll fly Air Canada to Toronto. Not looking forward to the day ahead!
