Wednesday May 31 Molde

Low clouds and 50 degrees today in the city of Molde. We didn't have an excursion for today; there isn't much here anyway! The city, center of the Romsdal district, has a population of about 25,000.

Our ship docked at a pier right at the center of town so we were able to spend our day walking around, visiting department stores, having lunch one of the many coffee shops. Knitting seems to be a popular pastime - the yarn shops were amazing! A prominent feature of the city center is the Molde Cathedral, known for its freestanding bell tower. The city is known for its roses. We were too early.

This morning we were treated to an Animal Zoo - hundreds of animals made from towels! All crew members are trained to do that.

On the way through these islands we saw many examples of fish farming.

The city has a professional football team and hosts the oldest and largest jazz festival in Europe. IN winter, cross country skiing is popular; also sport fishing.
